Some of you heard me massacre the song "Trees" at the Getaway a couple of years ago.My "other illustrious grandfather" was Frederick C. Frieseke, American Impressionist.
A new Frieseke show is opening tonight in New York City. Details are on my website at: http://members.fortunecity.com/miriamkilmer/frieseke/friesekesearchnf.html
No, of course I don't expect that you'll see this in time to get to the opening, but the show will be at Hollis Taggart Galleries until January 13!
There are actually two Frieseke exhibitions occurring there at once, one a show of watercolors of Florida scenes, which he painted from memory. He had spent some time in Florida as a child during the 1880's. The other is a more general show of small works and interior scenes.
Two beautiful little books have been published illustrating the two shows. Lavishly illustrated in full color and priced at are $20.00 each, they are ideal Christmas gifts. They are available directly from me. Please read about them here:
Chamber Works by Frederick C. Frieseke Uneventful Reminiscences: A childhood in Florida
They are going very quickly, so please get your orders in soon if you want them before Christmas. I'm also expecting a small shipment of good used hardback copies of "A Place in Normandy," which is about the house where Frieseke lived with his wife and daughter. Let me know if you're interested in purchasing one. They'll be about $12.00 plus s/h.
