Some years ago I was on holiday in San Francisco and wound up in a bar on Grant Street where there was a good blues band playing. The bar served an amazing beer from a micro-brewery, I think it was called Anchor Steam Beer. Anyway, I got totally hammered and fell out of the bar at about 4.30 in the morning with a couple of dozen close friends, some of whom I'd known for as long as four hours. That was when I realised that I loved America - and I'm going back later this year to see if the east coast is as good as the west!
