Subject: Lyr Req: Wotcher help with some lyrics please
This is what I've got from listening to both a 78 of Charles Penrose and Flowers and Frolics. I still need some clarification of a coupl of lines. Penrose has a different order of verses. This is F&F's version
Last week down our alley came a toff,
Nice old geezer with a nasty cough,
Saw my missus ,takes his topper off,
In a very gentlemanly way.

Mum says he I've got some news to tell,
Your rich uncle Tom from Camberwell,
Popped off recently, he wasn't well,
Leaving you his little donkey (shey)

Chor. Wotcher all the neighbours cry, who yer goin ter meet Bill,
Have yer bought the street Bill. Laugh I thought I could have died,
We knocked em in the old Kent road.

When we starts the blessed moke he stops,
He wont move so out I quickly hops,
Pals start whacking him when down he drops,
Someone says he wasn't born to go.

Lor' it might have been a four in hand,
My old dutch knows how to do the grand,
First she bows, and then she waves her hand,
hollering out "were going for a blow".

Chor.

Some says nasty things about the moke,
One cove thinks his legis really broke,
(that's his end because we carries moke)-what is this line???
Like the toffs that ride down Rotten Row.

Straight 'ees woke the alley up a bit,
Thought our lodger would have had a fit,
But my missus who's a real wit,
Says (I hates the bus because its slow)?

Chor.

Every evening at the stroke of five,
Me and the missus takes a little drive,
You'd say "wonderful they're still alive,"
If yousaw that little donkey go.

So I told him that he'd have to do,
Just what ever he was wanting to,
Still I can't forget thatrowdy crew,
Hollering out "steady Nelly Whoa!"

Chor.
