to start a bold tag, type "<" with a "B" in the middle and a ">" after it.

to end the bold tag, type "<" with a /B in the middle and a ">" at the end of it.

There are no spaces in that code.

a < P > (with no spaces, of course) is a new paragraph tag, not plain text.
