I can't advise on the price or the sound (obviously) but I own 2 guitars with adirondack sound boards and they are real keepers. It does take adirondack a longer time to open up (I've heard it's as much as 4 years depending on how much an instrument is played) so you might want to consider that when appraising it's volume and tonal qualities.
That said, the proof is in the playing.
