In parts of switzerland and germany, Goodbye is "Adée" (pronounced ah-DAY). It's a sort of Germench for adieu. In Bavaria, hello is "Grüss Gott" (approximately prounced "grewss got").Interesting how so many greetings -- at least in Europe -- involve God. Adieu and adios mean "to God" -- short for "I commend you to God." Goodbye of course came from "God be with you." "Grüss Gott" literally means "greet God" -- if you see him before I do, I guess. I always liked that one for that reason; it's kinda weird.
