Subject: RE: Waltz into Spring: Declutter - March 2013
Okay, Tom's up and I've medicated his knees and foot, got him coffee, etc. and will make breakfast in a bit. (It's Wednesday, so we do a "weekend" breakfast instead of just an English muffin or something.)

Already cleared out the top drawer of the file cabinet behind Tom and taken the pile upstairs. Looks like a bunch o' stuff I didn't know we had plus some Newsweeks from 2005 and maybe a few tax files. I've already decided that this drawer (and the one below it, if necessary) is where all the financial files will live -- instead of disorganized and scattered around on the top of the cabinet...on the map chest on my side of the table...in a pile next to Tom. (Basically, he's finally come to grips with the fact that he can't see well enough to take care of all this stuff and that it's okay for ME to organize it and stow it somewhere closeby but not strewn all over in full sight of anyone who comes into the house.)

It's hard for Tom to admit he needs to rearrange how he's always done things because he can no longer see well enough. Later I'll pick up the new cordless phone for him with a much larger, clearer display and BIG buttons. It will be a lot less frustrating for him. And yesterday I ordered an atomic watch for him that will announce the time when he pushes a button.

Also on the docket today is checking out a couple possible "new" (to me, at least) cars since I need to replace my aging '97 Subaru (the engine will go on forever, but the rest of the car is falling apart) real soon now.

Lots of melting last night -- hope the driveway hasn't gotten any worse than it has been.
