If the speed drop has occurred suddenly, as you suggest,there is the possibility that the drive system is mirrored across two drives to avoid data loss, and that either the mirror drivers have been damaged / disabled, or one disk has become defective. If you don't understand this, open the box and look to see how many drives are in there. If there are more drives than the software reports,take it to someone who knows about these things to have it fixed.
