Thread Name: Tune Req: Rusty Gully??
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Rusty Gully??
Laura, The only source I know of for this tune is an old Topic 33rpm record 'Cut and Dry Dolly: A favorite Collection of Tunes with Variations Adapted for the NorthumbrianSmallpipes, Violin, Flute and Concertina'. The musicians are Alistair Anderson, Anthony and Carole Robb, Colin Ross and Jim Hall. Stellar cast, if you know that corner of the world.

The recording is Topic 12TS278.

Bless 'em, they include facsimiles of the original tunebook pages (going back to 1770). "Rusty Gully" is there. I'm assuming it is the tune you're after. It is written out in 6/8 time. But as I play it - having learned it from Alistair, or the recording or both - it counts in 3/4 time, really. Exact same notes. Just a function of where the beats fall. It is a G major tune.

Easiest thing for me is to write it out in notes on the computer myself and e-mail it to you as a PICT file. That usually works. Can't do it tonight. Will give it a go tomorrow (Sat). - Goeorge ::-.--O
