Well, yes, ake, one does ~~ in the Lincoln sense of the worst possible system one could think of ~~ except for all the others. We still have the vote for all citizens, and the freedom for anyone to put themselves as candidate for it. How else would you define it? The activities of the press in trying to influence people, and the other 'abuses' you go on about, as Don said above, are all part of just that: our democratic system.
