Truly sorry for your misfortunes, Jack; but I think that you [individually and collectively] are, rather flatteringly in a way, over-estimating her influence and her powers in the matter. As someone says in one of David Lodge's fine novels set at the time: "It is no good blaming Thatcher as if she is some sort of witch who has cast an evil spell on the nation. She is just riding the zeitgeist." And so she was.
