Thanks, Noreen. I know that somewhere on the internet, it's listed as "Merdin", but I spend a good deal of time in Harlan County (KY) and I've never heard that name. Two common names in eastern Kentucky are "Miracle" (often pronounced "Mar-kul") and "Merida", but I just can't tell... Thanks for your help!
