I am a member of Victory Morris and we are currently recording a CD consisting of a small number of the songs we sing as a 'Side' the 'Drinking Song' being one of them. Like you I was stumped concerning who wrote it for the CD notes and after a lot of stone turning Ken Stephens, folk singer/songwriter wrote the words with a little help from Peter Watkinson to the tune of the Vicar of Bray. Ken lives in the Southampton area.
