In New England, with our long (although not as long as Alaska's!) winters, the call of the spring peepers is one of the most welcomed sounds. Peepers are small frogs, about an inch or so long, and when they get together in a pond, the sound can be overwhelming for those who don't enjoy it for what it is: the sound of spring.
