Subject: RE: BS: Slow cooker recipes
There was a marvelous recipe in the small booklet in a crock pot we got about 35 years ago that I still make on occasion, though it has been a long time now. I wonder if the ingredients are still available. It's boneless chicken breast (available), cream of mushroom canned soup (ditto), but the trick that makes it so good is the jars we used to get of the dried salted beef, thin slices that came stuffed into the glass jar. I haven't seen that for a long time. Is that chipped beef? Each breast is wrapped in a slice or two of beef and placed in the crockpot, and the un-diluted soup is spooned on top. Cook it on low all day and by evening it tastes wonderful. I would serve it with egg noodles, dished on top so the cooking juices and soup are picked up by the noodles.
