Subject: RE: Help: The Beggarmen
This seems an old thread but, what the hell.
My mum and sister knew the Beggarmen well. My sister Jose (Jordon) went to school with the Kearns' sister, Theresa. I saw the Beggarmen at Manchester Sports Guild (I think) and someone who is still in touch with Mr Kelly the silversmith, and most of the north west folkies, past and present, is Phil Brown, musician and Radio Lancashire folk programme - the Drift - presenter, via whose website I should think you could get in touch. if not, you can get phil via his website, Big Whistle Music: www.bigwhistle.co.uk
From memory not in the righ torder methinks:

Oh my name is Mini-cooper and my I was once as white as snow
'til I met a rally driver and a rallying we did go
He turned my carburettors and he gave me points a touch
Oh how could I resist him girls, when he slipped in the clutch

He took me down a shady lane so dark I couldn't
I'll tell you girls there never was a man as fast as he
he laid me on a mossy bank and gave me such a fright
he examined my suspension with a spanner and a light

downhill from there.

cheers
