Got one about a year ago - just out of curiosity! As light as a feather and as cheap as chips (as we say over here). Keeps great time and, when it stops working - as it surely will - I'll hang it on the wall as an ornament.

I'm sure they press the parts out as almost one piece... But - as you say - the modern equivalent of the dollar watch, just flimsier.
