I was very sorry to hear that Steve is gone. I last saw him at Mary's (Asquith) funeral and didn't get chance to speak to him for long. I have very happy memories of seeing him and Terry Whelan at the Songcarriers club in Manchester, and also also at Poynton Folk Club where he used to host the Wednesday night singaround in the upstairs room. He was a cheerful, friendly chap and I was always pleased to see him. I have an abiding memory of him singing Maids of Australia, with that very cheeky glint in his eye! It's very sad that he's no longer with us and I'd like to offer my sincere condolences to his family.
