Subject: RE: Mudcatters producing radio programs
Interesting to see this thread.

I present 6 hours weekly on Blast1386, the radio station of Reading College here in the UK, going out on 1386AM (in accordance with the Ofcom rules for a college/university radio station, this can only be listened to within the boundaries of the campus. Mark you. I don't think radio waves have read the Ofcom rules). We also stream on
Blast1386.com

"Community Matters" is a community-based programme, featuring guests from the Reading Community - Groups, Organisations, Local Charities, who can use their air-time to promote their activities, ask for volunteers or look for support, financial or otherwise. I also get out and about with my trusty Zoom H2 to various events to record interviews in situ. At present, we have two, hourly slots, presented monthly, by presenters-in-training on local arts.

I break up the chat with music. If left to my own devices it will be mainly folk/country/Americana but I also use Wikipedia to check on who was "hatched, matched or despatched" during the week and I ask guests to bring in their own choice of music.
In addition to promoting the show, and the station, through Fb and e-mails, (I, Luddite that I am, am resisting any urge to "tweet") we have started to upload shows to Mixcloud – a free service.
Anyone interested can listen to past shows here:
Community Matters on Mixcloud
Would love to keep in touch with other Mudcat radio presenters!
