Got some lovely stuff this year. Always seem to get long scarves, which look lovely but aren't a good idea for me cos they get caught everywhere so I end up passing them on. I hate anything round my throat, unless it's a very loose necklace, or said help-summoning one.

My aunty said I'd got a Steeleye Span cake – she had this crazy idea in the middle of the night to make this cake in the shape of a straw hat complete with green willow. It said "CLAIRE" & "30" "ALL AROUND MY HAT".   I'd never heard a cake speak before.

All my flatmates say that when/if they see anything to do with said band they're reminded of me – shame we'd half-eaten it before I got back!

Does life really get interesting at 30??
