Thread Name: Lyr Req: My Name Is Calder Rivers (Calder Rivers)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Calder River
I believe that there are at least four Calder Rivers in northern England. The one that I know best flows through the village of Whalley in Lancashire - where I was born. There is at least one poem written about this River Calder. It is "Calder River" by Josiah Hurstwood and was written c.1825. It begins:

By Calder's dew-pearled marge I wandered
Through ferns and meadows all alone,
To Calder's song my heart surrendered,
That heart afore was hard as stone.
