Have we had "Washing machines go better with Calgon"?

A recent one, but peculiarly antique in tone ~~ real throwback to the earliest [mid-1950s in UK tv ads]. Have been wondering if this is an attempt to cash in on some sort of nostalgia market, or a bit of advertisers' or agents' ineptitude. Ambivalent about it.

One of the best, I recall from those very early days, was the briefest, 10 second 3-worder "Sleep sweeter. Bournvita", with a steaming mug wearing a nightcap.

The one that irritates me at the moment [a slogan rather than a jingle] is the bookmaker's one that enjoins in hearty hectoring tones "Don't settle for less!" Less what, exactly?
