I acquired a second Elgin 571 "B.W. Raymond" a few months ago. It had the wrong winding stem and crown and was a bit tricky on time. I've managed to get a winding stem made for it and it winds and runs OK, but the crown is still the wrong shape.

Its main problem is that it runs perfectly - face down - but stops when turned over! My friend Derek believes it's a pallet problem but you just can't get parts or Elgin expertise over here, and he's reluctant to touch it.

So - it's going off to Mahlon with a covering letter - which I should have done in the first place!
