I have company coming on Sunday....friends who have the most immaculate home. She has a mansion of a house in Georgia and I...well, I have an old farm house that maybe in 50 years MIGHt be finished. My yard is not manicured (although the grass is cut), we do not have a landscape artist (we do have a few pots of flowers) and I am feeling a little sheepish about having her here. I love our home....I love that we are a bit isolated, I love that it's lived in condition (who wants to live in a museum?) but I'm not digging on having someone here who might be a little judgmental. She says not to worry. So...I'm not going to. I'm just not. I won't be able to enjoy her company if I'm worried that she has spied a cobweb I missed or a giant ball of dog hair appears from under a book case (hey..it happens). I am, however, cleaning, for her. It gives me enough stress to take care of some things that need tending to anyway. Today my focus is on the upstairs hallway...going to wipe down the walls, clean the framed photos, sweep and mop. The steps will get a good sweeping too. And then the downstairs hall which is pretty cluttered and the bookshelves all need a good dusting in that hallway. The standard cleaning of the bathroom will happen today as well. I'll save the kitchen/dining room and kitchen for Friday and Saturday. Pete is in charge of the porch and yard. My friend is bringing her son who thinks it will be *fun* to visit the farm. I told her last night that we've had a ton of rain...expect MUD and dirt. It's a FARM after all. Let's hope she means not to worry about the house. I KNOW she is coming to see ME but you can't help seeing the surroundings. I need to get busy.
