Its a tricky thing this sensitivity. When I first thought about trying to play the bodhran I read a book which so emphatically stressed the need to be sensitive and not obtrusive that I didn't play in front of others because I didn't want to give them a distaste for the instrument. I need to learn to be looser, make mistakes and experiment loudly in front of other people.
