It's a long time since we saw you at Mt D - last I heard you were in Tassie.

I am strongly in favour of a republic in Australia but I also like the idea of the government swearing allegiance to something other than themselves - the something being independent of the government and a source of authority. English monarchs, GG's or christian/judeau ideas of god don't fit the bill.

Don't think Ned or his heirs and successors would be much help here.
