Last night I sprayed the vegetables with the Surround (finely ground kaolin clay that looks like a thick paint when you mix it in water). Once it is on, they say you should only water from below. This evening I turned on the soaker hose at the front and west side of the house, and only later realized the darned oscillating sprinkler and that hose (coming off of a multiple hose connector) was still in the "on" position and washed some of the dried clay slurry off of the plants. It coats stuff and repels grasshoppers and other bugs. The grasshoppers have been really bad this year, so I'll have to mix some more tomorrow morning and spray before I head to work.

Talked to a co-worker this afternoon about the job change we're many of us going to experience - we have concluded that we're probably going to both be in the same group. A new category of job, a change for both of us. We've worked on other things together and get along well. That's good. I'm tired of the rarefied air I've been in for a very long time. The proverbial square peg in the round hole.
