Even in the daylight it's a difficult book to read, especially as I live on the island now, and it feels like it's all just down the road and only yesterday.
Quite a different take on the the island's history to that more generally assumed.
And take the case of that great Australian Pemulwuy, who led the Eora mob in a twelve year war of resistance against the invaders - now there was a hero. One wonders if he and Ned might have had something in common.
