There are already plenty of knowledgeable threads on this family of songs which go back into the early 18th century. Funnily enough most (possibly all) of the original words had a rational meaning in cant terms. An important intermediary was the Minstrel song 'Keemo Kimo' of the mid 19thc.

The words of the various 'Froggy went courtin' songs go back much earlier than all of this.
