Thread Name: wrist plate and fiddle playing
Subject: RE: wrist plate and fiddle playing
Guest Philippa, maybe this will help: I've been told that Tommy Jackson, the premier Nashville fiddler in the 50's used a capo on his fiddle at times (check out Ray Price's "You Done me Wrong!) to duplicate the double open string sound of the D and A strings even tho the song was cut in the key of E. That could be expanded to the other 2 open string possibilities (G and D, or A and E). I can imagine using 1 finger at a time for a "single stop" - i.e. one sting noted while the neighbor string rings free. I don't know which finger you'll have working well enough to do that but I wish you all the luck and success you can have with fiddling your way out of fiddler's hell! Keep us informed - we'll be cheering for you.
