Ebbie, Jack Reacher is a very tough character in a series of "action/crime" novels that have a lot of fighting and adventure in them. He goes about more or less randomly rescuing innocent people from various vicious criminals. It so happens I have a friend who reads every Jack Reacher book that comes out. He lent one to me and I read it...good light entertainment if you don't mind suspending reality quite a bit, and they are well written. So that's why I know who Jack Reacher is.

It's not what I'd usually read. Right now I'm reading a great biography of Leonard Cohen, entitled "I'm Your Man". After that, it'll probably be something on spirituality, religion or history...or more folk music and songwriter stuff.
