MOM! I'm home!

I was back yesterday but I was very tired. Lots of naps, and took the truck into the shop. I had to fill the radiator twice to get home from the airport (the plane landed at 11:20pm, so it was already a not-such-great-time-of-day for anything).

I was walkabout to the Pacific Northwest for a family wedding. I didn't say much before-hand, but I dropped hints. Like the post below when I talked about writing from my brother's house at the beach. I am in land-locked Fort Worth most of the time but my brother lives on Puget Sound.

I'll go back and read that otter story.

Our last night in Washington was at a friend's house - in the morning she had to go out and shoo away all of the heavy equipment at the end of her driveway so I could leave for the airport. Putting in new water lines is noisy messy business. On my way to the airport I stopped to see Deckman (Bob Nelson) who was an old friend of my father's. That was delightful, but then we had an intense hour or so passing through Seattle traffic (took a detour down the old highway - Aurora - and through downtown city streets and out the other side by taking Olive.)

My son and I saw an old friend up in the mountains - and after a couple of sentences out of her mouth I realized that she has Alzheimers. Her grandson lives with her now. And another visit with a friend I've known all of my life - she turned 99 this summer and is still a hoot. But this trip may have been my last goodbyes with those two friends.
