We recently learned of Karen's passing on July 09, 2013, at her home in New Britain, Connecticut. She was born on December 19, 1946. She was sixty-six years old. She will be remembered at Folk Legacy Records as a friend and volunteer support person and was regularly seen selling Folk Legacy products at the various Folk Festivals. Dear Friends of Karen Kobela,

    We were deeply saddened yesterday to learn that Karen died of a heart attack at her home in New Britain, Ct., on July 9th.
    She is survived by one brother, Tom Kobela, who lives in central New York State.
    Karen had an extremely interesting and varied career, about which we will write more soon. We new her best as a lover of folk-singing with a life-long dedication to traditional music.
    Karen was a volunteer for Folk-Legacy for years. We are especially indebted to her for a beautiful cross-referenced index of all of the songs on our recordings. A true labor of love!
