I was going to query the "26 ouncer", then I realised it's almost exactly the old UK 'standard' bottle. (26 2/3 fluid ounces)
One standard bottle was exactly 32 standard measures (of 1/6th of a gill)
Alternately, duty was calculated on a gallon of spirits, and a gallon (UK= 8 pints of 20 fluid ounces each) just happens to be 6 bottles.
