Sorry to disagree with Firecat but the distance between the "last page of Vol.1" (which is,looking at the books on the shelf, inside the left cover) and the first page of Vol.2 (just inside the right cover) is 2.25"

Now the first page of vol.1 and the last page of vol.2 are one-quarter of an inch apart.
