'Twas in approx. 1981 that I did it too, in late October. We had just about 10 hours of daylight and we finished in the gloaming. We headed for a nosh in a pub in Settle and at the end I couldn't get off the bar stool to put my feet on the ground. Do NOT attempt the Three Peaks in brand-new boots.
