I have been reading this thread with interest and I wish to equire what is the meaning of this thread and why did it start?

I don't mean why did anonymousethief originate the thread but what is the deeper meaning of this thread and what does it tell us about ourselves as human beings. Or perhaps, more to the point, are we human beings and assuming we are, how can will really be sure whether we are right or wrong when it is only we who can arrive at such a conlusion. Or is there an alien culture that told us that we are humans and if so, where do they live? If this alien race told us that we are human beings how do we know that they are correct and how do they know who they are? Could it be that this alien race were given their identiy by an other alien race who also told them that we are human beings?

Considering the possibility of the number of aliens that may or may not exist, we need to consider the number of planets that may exist and how many support life as we know it or do these aliens who may or may not have told us that we are human beings have to be life as we know it when is likely that as we are unaware of thier existance that rather than being life as we know it, they are in fact life as we don't know it?
