I made one major, major discovery yesterday -- Golick's Ice Cream (which is a heck of a lot closer than Lago's Lone Oak) makes MALTS!!!

I am a product of a Midwestern upbringing (and a major dairy state, to boot) and shakes, frappes, or whatever your region calls 'em, were all malted. And I LIKE that.

I discovered in New England (I first lived in Massachusetts, then Maine, and, for the past 30-some years, in New New Hampshire) and almost no one puts malt powder or syrup into mixed up milk and ice cream.

Lago's Lone Oak does -- way over in Rye (or up in Rochester) -- and I usually get myself a malt or two over the course of a summer if I make a trip to Rye or find myself there.

Golick's is over on Rte 125 in Barrington and less than 10 miles away. Yee hah!
