Thread Name: Flamenco on BBC 4
Subject: RE: Flamenco on BBC 4
For a few years - early 80's - I had a show called Guitar Horizons. This included Marcos a flamenco guitarist based in Oxford. Through Marcos I was seduced by the world of Flamenco and spent hours listening to many of the great musicians this musical idiom holds so dear. I saw this TV Doc and must say how well it represented this great folklore that is Flamenco. Showed it to be far more than the customary clicking heels and castanets...though how I wish the Welsh folk dancers that I grew up with had a bit of the sensuality of those exciting flamenco folk dancers. Folk dance supposed to be boring ? Take a look at this prog.
At last a great folk music well represented in a TV doc.
