A little web search indicates that the current "Sage 50" is the latest evolution from what was once called Peachtree.

The wiki article doesn't say much about how badly it's been mangled in its various incarnations, but the reputation of earlier versions (i.e. the price some were willing to pay for a couple of decades) would suggest they'd be foolish to change it too arbitrarily ... (?).

Based on a half-century of experience with "business managers" I've not had a particularly great admiration for them or their tools, and have found Excel sufficient for my purposes (including a very small business for a while); although I can see possibilities for some benefit from more complex tools in the right circumstances.
