A co-worker once repeatedly urged me to visit a rock shop some distance away, and I finally got around to it. It was fascinating and I pored over them for hours, ended up buying an opal necklace, earrings and ring as well as a couple of other rocks.

I eventually gave the opal set to my niece whose name happens to be Opal. Thought that might be enough to cancel the bad luck. :)
