Thread Name: flute part for 'Yellow Bird'
Subject: RE: flute part for 'Yellow Bird'
Just to complete things - the arrangement at scorescom. isn't it.

If nothing else comes of this, I have enjoyed going to YouTube and listening to the flute part in the Norman Luboff arrangement. I have loved the sound of the flute (and the recorder and the oboe) since I was a little kid. The flute playing on 'Yellow Bird' is exceptionally fine. The graceful, effortless trills, the saucy endings, and the tantalizing descant during the verses.

When I was a kid, listening for this song on the top-40 radio station, grown-ups were dumping ugly junk like Elvis, Little Richard, Chubby Checker and (later) the Beatles on me, whether I wanted it or not.

Yellow Bird and the Blue Tango convinced me that somewhere, somehow, I could escape.
