I did a considerable amount of research on Tannahill and I know his parents were married in Beith but everything else I have read, Motherwell, Ramsay, R A Smith, shows that he moved into his mothers's house in Queen Street, Paisley, after his father died. The Linn, is well known to Paisley people and a hundred years after he died the people of Paisley celebrated his birth with a huge procession which took in the Linn, and most of Central Paisley. Without doubting your friend, verbal tradition is often coloured with agenda.
