I was prompted to upgrade my browser to IE8 and downloaded/installed it. Now I can't access the web (I'm posting this through Google Chrome) because each time I open IE, I get a message that "this program has asked Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."

Perhaps someone knows what to do about this, but failing that - how do I restore my system to what it was before that download? I'm running Windows XP Home.
