thanks for all your comments.

Bill - you are saying what I was saying - I don't want a community, all I want is a good, easy to use photo site!!

this is the email I sent to my techy friends

I don't want to use Google+ so I just tried my favourite search - 'forums on google+' but it just gives lots of google forums - I want independent advice.

Google+ is the new facebook - but I just want photo albums. I already ignore friend requests & polls & other such crap.

Wikipedia list of photo sharing websites

I have several gmail addresses & am pi**ed off at the way Google has updated their "service" & picasa is owned by google

I also have a yahoo address that I had to get to join a list & don't like their upgrades, either & flickr is owned by yahoo.

All those internet sharks gobbling up other services & stuffing them up!

thread about using flickr Yes, but use it. No generic web gallery is what I would call very good, I would say it is adequate. Bespoke is the way to go, but of course more costly and time consuming. Flickr does have a myriad of addons to choose from such as Flickrriver and Fluidr which can make the viewing of images slightly more pleasurable and somewhat akin to Pbase and other sites. flickr allow too few pictures and hope for too high a subscription. I prefer photobucket which lets me customise background as well. Webshots is no more. Time to start exploring...

Why I use Flickr

from Wikipedia - Photobucket offers free and subscription based (Plus) accounts. Free account users receive 2GB of storage for photo and video uploads, 10GB of bandwidth per month for sharing and linking, and unlimited access to Photobucket's editing, slideshow, and Story features. Plus accounts are structured into storage tiers and offer unlimited bandwidth, use of site features, and an advertisement free experience.

How stuff works - photobucket

Creata a photobucket album

Pros & cons - Photobucket It is one of the best online image hosting sites around as long as you do not need to order prints online. (can't see why I would ever want to - so it's not a minus to me)

a Photobucket album - looks like an album, unlike flickr sets

As you can see I was inclining towards photobucket but now I dunno

more comment, please
