The difference between paid and free is how large they allow the image to be if you post a link to it. A free account doesn't get to link to any size, they are limited. For many years as a eBay user I hosted my images in Photobucket because I could to the web html layout myself and then a thumbnail photo appeared in the auction listing but if they clicked on it it could open as a huge photo and they could get a very close look at the item in the listing. Then Photobucket restrained the size of the image that the link would open - only about 1024px wide, keeping it smaller than intended.
