I couldn't cope with the ridiculous parts of The English Patient -- the most hilarious being the fact that the chick would be dead in a cave in the desert and she would be there intact and untouched when he got back three months latere. As if there were no bugs or scavenging animals anywhere in North Africa. I mean really. Now if he had found her a disgusting mess, and still have carried her off to his plane, then I could have gotten serious about it -- but they were too cowardly.
