Goddess Pele was sooooo mad! She didn't tell me, but I knew she was. Actually I just felt very guilty for taking so many lava rocks once I got home. It didn't help that I was travelling with a geologist.
Anyway, I ended up mailing the rocks back to a restaurant The Godmother in Pahoa. If you can go, I highly recommend it, the food was excellent. They made such incredible food that I figured if they put that much care in the food preparation they would help me out with my lava rock problem.
I got a letter back from the Godmother telling me she buried my lava rocks in her backyard and once a month for 6 months she would pour gin over them. Goddess Pele likes gin.
You have no idea how much it cost to send those rocks back, they were heavy and I took a lot.
