Dear Mudcats,

I am looking for a folk song antecedent to The Train and the River, by Jimmy Giuffre. In descritions of the piece it is referred to as being based on a "tradional folk song". The only folk song that has a title that comes near is New River Train. I don't hear any resemblance, though.
For any ideas I would be grateful, maybe giving the Giuffre tune a listen on youtube might jog someone's associative matrix,
