Thread Name: Lyr Req: 'Under the Viaduct' Floating Verse?
Subject: Lyr Req: 'Under the Viaduct' Floating Verse?
Hi All,

I've run into this lyric a few times, in Bessie Smith's 'Preaching the Blues' and a song from Junior Tamplin called 'Under the Viaduct,' and seen it mentioned in some historical writing.

Down in Atlanta GA, under the viaduct every day
Drinkin wine and corn liquor, hollerin' hooray

I'm trying to track down maybe a source or the line's use by others.
I've exhausted all the lyrics-based searches I could think of, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here can remember hearing this or similar Atlanta viaduct-related verses...

Thanks!
